YOASOBI “THE BOOK OF SCENES”

New Gallery (Jimbocho, Tokyo) is pleased to present “THE BOOK OF SCENES,” an exhibition celebrating the release of YOASOBI’s 4th EP, ”THE BOOK for,”.

This exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the world of “THE BOOK” EP series, which YOASOBI has been releasing since 2021. Each songs is born from its own original novel. These stories are transformed into lyrics and sound, and brought to life as a series of scenes in the music videos. Focusing on each scene from their music videos, the exhibition brings into physical space the moments in which music and story come together.

At the venue, layers of color inspired by “THE BOOK”, “THE BOOK 2”, “THE BOOK 3”, and the latest release, “THE BOOK for,” unfold into a sequence of spaces, each embodying the unique view of each work. As visitors walk through the layers of color that run throughout the series, they are drawn into many scenes YOASOBI has depicted over the years.

How have the songs born from the stories bound within the four “THE BOOK” releases taken shape as scenes on screen? By tracing a collection of moments drawn from these music videos, visitors can immerse themselves in YOASOBI’s journey to date and delve deeper into the world the series has created.

■About the “THE BOOK” Series
A series of EPs released by YOASOBI since January 2021 as “Readable CDs.”Based on the concept of “novel into music,” the limited-edition and strictly limited-production versions feature not only the songs but also a substantial collection of pages containing the lyrics, the original novels, and the visual world of the music videos.Following the release of ”THE BOOK”, “THE BOOK 2”, and ”THE BOOK 3”, it was announced that this fourth EP, “THE BOOK for,” would mark the conclusion of the “THE BOOK” series.

YOASOBI, “a unit that turns novels into music.” Their debut song, “Yoru ni Kakeru,” released in November 2019, became the first song in Japan to surpass 1.2 billion cumulative streams. Their song “Idol,” the opening theme for the TV anime [Oshi no Ko] released in April 2023, topped the Billboard JAPAN “JAPAN Hot 100” chart for 21 consecutive weeks, setting a new record for the longest consecutive run at the top of the chart. The song also reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard “Global Excl. U.S.” chart and Apple Music’s “Top 100: Global”, achieving a series of unprecedented milestones for a Japanese artist. It went on to become the fastest song in Japan to surpass one billion cumulative streams. In addition to performing at numerous international festivals—including the world’s largest, the “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival,” as well as “Lollapalooza,” “Primavera Sound,” and “OSHEAGA”—they has also successfully held solo concerts in North America, Europe, and Asia. In June 2026, they released their fourth EP, “THE BOOK for,”, and starting in October, the largest-scale domestic and Asian dome and stadium tour ever by a Japanese artist, they continues to make a remarkable impact both in Japan and around the world.
