We are pleased to announce that New Gallery (Jimbocho, Tokyo) will host a solo exhibition titled “COMIC WORLD” by Fukuoka-based artist AOISIMON, beginning Friday, October 2.

AOISIMON has expanded his creative practice across manga, art, and street culture, extending his expression from two-dimensional works to three-dimensional forms and spatial installations.
In recent years, he held a solo exhibition titled COMIC WORLD at OVERGROUND in Hakata, Fukuoka. He was also selected as one of the emerging artists featured in from YBA to YJA, an exhibition held at the Multi-purpose Room of the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art in conjunction with Tate: YBA & BEYOND — British Art of the 1990s That Changed the World, where he presented a solo exhibition under the same title.
Through a series of exhibitions bearing the COMIC WORLD name, AOISIMON has continued to develop and shape it into a distinctive artistic universe of his own.

This exhibition refocuses on painting, the foundation of COMIC WORLD, which has developed across a wide range of media.Through the medium of painting, AOISIMON presents in a more direct form the themes he is most interested in exploring at this moment.

In conjunction with his solo exhibition at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art this August, AOISIMON also released his first-ever art book, AOISIMON.The art book will be available at this exhibition, along with a selection of exclusive items created especially for the occasion.
