How do artists born into this era view the increasingly complex world we live in today, shaped by changes to the global environment, social media awash with information where fact and fiction intermingle, pandemics, and war?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTell me why\u201d introduces artists who, working across a range of media, explore their relationship with this complex world and weave new narratives through their practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ayumi Okita regards urushi lacquer as a mediator between humans and nature, creating lacquer paintings that examine the relationship between human and nonhuman beings. Aya Kurashiki explores the body and existence as forces that mediate the relationship between self and others through painting and ritualistic performances. Sae Fujita redefines drawing through the reproduction of images using printing techniques and an ongoing dialogue with materiality. Throughout her practice, Kurashiki has consistently explored the distance between oneself and others. Her work engages with themes of community and care, ranging from broader subjects such as religion, gender, death, and the body to more intimate aspects of everyday life, including work and family. Graduated from the Department of Design at Osaka University of Arts. Based in Osaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drawing on traces and memories inscribed in the urban environment, Yoshimura works across sculpture and video to explore the transformation of \u201crights\u201d and \u201cexistence\u201d within public space. In his recent \u201cRandom Encounter\u201d series, he collects graffiti found on Google Street View and translates low-resolution digital information into wood sculpture. Since 2018, he has served as a curator at the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum, specializing in contemporary ceramics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His field of expertise is the history of modern and contemporary Japanese ceramics.
